Associate Digital Engineer
Alecia enjoys understanding how things work so she studied Computer Networking in college. After working in IT for several years, she decided to travel to Nigeria with a friend. The experience was more than she could've imagined. The following year she quit her job and traveled around the world for almost a year.

There were adventures in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, Eastern Europe, Southern Africa and SE Asia. After returning to America, Alecia relocated to North Georgia. While visiting MN two years ago, she attended a Blacks in Tech meetup and began learning how the tech community in MN had changed. It was during a BiT meetup that she heard about Twin Cities Startup Week and became a participant in the Fly-in program while still living in Georgia.

Her desire to learn new skills began the journey into software development. After learning on her own using various platforms (CodeSchool, freeCodeCamp, Team Treehouse etc) she decided to apply to the FullStack Software Development bootcamp at Prime Digital Academy and relocated back to MN the following year. While attending the bootcamp, Alecia attended another BiT meetup hosted at Best Buy and met several people, including a recruiter. Currently, she works at Best Buy as Jr Front End Developer on a team that builds features to ease the customer experience on bestbuy.com
