As a Supplier Diversity Lead at Target, Karen is responsible for leading the Supplier Diversity strategy for Health and Beauty, Essentials, Home and Hardlines. With more than 12 years of experience in business development in both real estate and retail, she specializes in connecting and supporting diverse owned businesses as they navigate opportunities to gain business at the right place and right time, increase their odds of success. These diverse businesses include those owned by ethnic minorities, women, LGBT persons and veterans.
Karen wears a lot of hats as she can be mentoring suppliers on pitching to a Fortune 50 company one minute to working with other industry colleagues the next minute on strategy and benchmarking. Throughout her career she has worked with organization across a wide variety of industries – from social and digital marketing and franchising, to merchandising and non-profits. She currently serves on the Retail Industry Group board which brings together 20 of the largest retailers in the country.
No matter the hat nor industry, the through-line is generous purpose. As a Latina woman and immigrant to the United States, Karen’s calling is to pay it forward and help others leverage their best light.
